Looking beyond the obvious, the exploration of cracked paint can reveal a galaxy of lines and colours as it takes the imagination on a creative journey. The Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, recognizes and embraces the uniqueness and beauty in the imperfect. It is often on my mind as I discover abstract designs in unexpected and overlooked places like boat hulls, abandoned buildings, and old cars. Surrounded by a soft periwinkle/lavender border, this scarf design features a collection of complementary colours and hues to complement any wardrobe from casual to evening elegance.

How to find magic in the mundane:
When out for a walk, open your eyes and your mind to textures and patterns in your surroundings.
Don’t just look straight ahead, look down. There is a world of design at your feet.
Peer closely at weathered textures of barn doors, rusting metal, peeling paint
If you don’t have a camera, use your cell phone camera to zoom in on details of leaves and bark. Mother Nature is one of the best abstract artists there is.
